The Drowned Hogs are STILL coming!
Late last week, Pittsburgh River Rescue called to warn us of unsafe river conditions and advised us to postpone the Drowned Hogs Swim planned for last Saturday. The event has been rescheduled for this coming SATURDAY FEBRUARY 4th, same time, same place!
We are full speed ahead for this weekend, and are at 5days and counting! We hope that you're able to make it down to the boat ramp to support this quirky event! This will be the 7th annual plunge to raise funds for Circle C kids and assist Punxsutawney Phil in predicting when spring is to arrive. The weather will be a "balmy" 42 degrees! What a great way to celebrate the coming of spring with mascots Monongahela Mari and the Mayor of Hogdom!
WARM-UPS 11:00 AM ~ PLUNGE at NOON
18th Street Boat Ramp on the South Side
Swimmers and the public are welcome to share a hot cup of coffee compliments of Starbucks, Pittsburgh's own Better-Maid Donuts, and some inspiring headdresses and other "flotation devices" from Kahuna Balloona. We'll have authentic Drowned Hog merchandise for sale and a custom "Hog Wash" where swimmers can get doused with warm water to shake off the chill of the "Mon."
Immediately after the swim, join us for the "HOG THAW JAM" where we'll thaw out and warm-up at the Inn-Termission Lounge (1908 E. Carson Street). Complimentary chili, sandwiches and door prizes. We'd love to have YOU join us in the water, but if that's a stretch, then come on down for the festivities! If you you know someone who would be willing to "Chill with the Drowned Hogs" to support the cause, please pass along our e-mail invitation.
Thanks for doing a COOL thing for kids!
