UPDATED: ACHD Announces Thirty New Cases of Coronavirus

The Pennsylvania Dept. of Held their daily update at 3 pm. Notes from that broadcast are below. You can watch the full stream HERE.

Dr. Levine:

  • COVID-19 Cases have been seen across 44 counties.
  • About 10% of the people who have tested positive have required hospitalization.
  • 120 Pennsylvanians have required hospitalization since March 6th.
    • Thirty-eight of those being hospitalized required ICU treatment.
      • About eighteen of those requiring ICU treatment required a ventilator.
  • PA has approximately 3,400 Intensive Care Beds in the state.
    • Around 40% are still available.
  • Approximately 3,000 ventilators are available across Pennsylvania.
    • Approximately 75% of those are still available.
    • The state is continuing to buy where possible.
  • Before COVID-19 around 1 Million masks were in the state's supply.
    • The state is getting more from the Federal National Supply and also purchasing more.
    • The state is also looking to industries outside healthcare for additional supplies.
  • Important to stay home.
    • Mitigation efforts are essential to help avoid a massive surge of hospitalizations.
  • Stay Calm. Stay Safe. Stay Home
  • There is NO evidence that pets or any animals can transfer COVID-19.
  • Continuing to see exponential growth. New cases double every 2-3 days.

Governor Wolf:

  • Extended current Stay-At-Home order to North Hampton and Lehigh Counties.
  • Need to buy time to allow hospitals to find supplies and to allow currently sick individuals to recover.
  • Looking at cellphone data, PA is at the top of those states practicing social distancing.
  • Gov. Wolf has vowed to save our lives and then save our lively hoods.
  • Announced the CWCA or COVID-19 Working Capital Access Program.
    • Allow loans of up to $100,000 to for-profit businesses with 100 or fewer full-time employees.
    • $60 Million has been set aside for these loans.

  • Needs every Pennsylvania to step-up and do their part to minimize the spread of COVID-19.
  • Everyone must act as if we already have it and stay home as much as possible. Be sure to practice good hygiene if avoiding others is not possible.
  • The Stay-At-Home order has been issued to areas that have been most affected.

Update: 3/25/2020 12:40 PM

The PA State Department of Health Released updated numbers for the state. There have been 276 additional positive cases of COVID-19 identified. That brings the statewide number to 1,127.

Additionally, there have been four more deaths. The death toll in PA is now 11.

11,193 Pennsylvanians have tested negative.

  • Beaver: 7
  • Butler: 12
  • Lawrence: 1
  • Westmoreland: 16
  • Mercer: 2
  • Greene: 2

The Allegheny County Health Department announced thirty additional cases of #COVID19 in the county. This brings the total to 88 active cases with two deaths. Thirteen of those were hospitalized.

  • Breakdown of cases by age group:
    • 0-4: 1
    • 5-12: 1
    • 13-18: 2
    • 19-24: 15
    • 25-49: 30
    • 50-64: 25
    • 65+: 14
  • Breakdown of cases by gender:
    • Male: 55%
    • Female: 45%
"Residents are encouraged to comply with the Governor’s stay-at-home order in order to slow the spread of the virus in our community."
